Acts of Charity
“I assure you, as often as you did it for one of my
least brothers and sisters, you did it for me”
The family of St. Pius X Catholic Church is given the opportunity to act upon these words in various ways through the Acts of Charity at St. Pius X. The Acts of Charity began in May, 2012. The committee presently has twelve members and is always open to membership. We strive to coordinate all of the charitable works in the parish to achieve a unified effort to help those in need. Specifically, the “purple bag” collection is taken once a month at the Sunday Liturgy. These funds go toward helping those who are struggling financially. Assistance is given toward rent and utilitiy bills. Besides seasonal collections of food and clothing, AOC coordinates with existing efforts such as the Medical Assistance Program (MAP), Catholic Daughters, collecting for the Ark, collection for those in the military and others.

The Acts of Charity committee will be meeting Tuesday, February 7th, at 6:30 p.m. in CC#1. We will begin discussion on our project for Lent. Anyone interested in the works of the Acts of Charity is invited to attend!
We see clients on Tuesdays from
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon in the Parish Office at 5620 Gollihar.
Please call the parish office at 993-4053 prior to coming in to confirm that funds are available for assistance.
We help with utilities (must have cut-off notice) and rent (must have eviction notice) only. Must live in Corpus Christi city limits.
You will need to bring the following information:
- Current picture ID (must be valid and current driver’s license)
- Social Security card and cards of those living at the address on the bill/lease
- A written referral from another agency, such as Catholic Charities, Nueces County Action Agency or another Catholic Church that they have gone to or another agency they have gone to for help with this bill/rent.
If it is for rent, we will need the lease agreement and eviction notice.
If it is for utilities, we will need the utility bill and cut-off notice.
Planning meetings for the Acts of Charity Committee are on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in CC #1.
