Religious Faith Formation

CCD--Kinder – 5th Grade

Our children are our future.  With this in mind, the Religious Education Ministry at St. Pius X Catholic Church strives to teach the essential traditions and doctrines of the Catholic faith and to instill in them a love for Jesus and all of God’s creation.  We place a special emphasis on participation in the Mass and the need to care and respect others.  We invite parents to become an integral part of our ministry.  We invite parents to learn and refresh their love for the Church along side their children.

Religious Education classes for K – 5th grade are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 PM.

MIddle School Youth Ministry

The EDGE program is used for Catholic middle school youth ministry for grades 6-8.  The EDGE program is designed to meet the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of young adolescents.  The goals of the programs are to foster a transforming spiritual experience of Jesus through the Liturgy, to create a positive experience of the Church, to assist the adolescents in gaining an understanding and appreciation for what the Catholic Church teaches, to incorporate the Catholic Church’s vision of social justice and peace into their spiritual lives, and to develop an identity in the adolescent as being a vital and visual presence within the parish.

The EDGE program meets on Wednesday evenings throughout the year in the Youth Center from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Check the Sunday bulletin for ongoing schedule.

High School Youth Ministry

Students, grades 9-12, participate in the LIFE TEEN program at St. Pius X Parish.  Life Teen is an international Catholic ministry that serves the Church and leads teens closer to Christ by providing resources and training that encourage vibrant Eucharist celebrations and opportunities for teens to grow in their faith.

Life Teen meets on Sunday evening in the Youth Center after the 5:30 PM Youth Mass. Check the Sunday bulletin for ongoing schedule.

Adult Faith Formation

Bible classes are held throughout the year.  Other opportunities for faith formation are the Why Catholic? sessions, and small faith community faith sharing including the MOM’s program.

Sacramental Preparation

Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation are two year programs.

Usually the First grade year is the first year of Sacramental Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.  Usually the Second grade year is the second year of preparation.  However, there is no set grade limits for being prepared and ready to receive the sacraments.

Reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is usually at the end of the 10th grade year.  Preparation for Confirmation is a two year program beginning in the 9th grade.

Parent participation is required in the preparation for all three sacraments.
